After an epic introduction during BlizzCon 2017, Hanzo Shimada from Overwatch is making his way to Heroes of the Storm and a hero spotlight for him is released by Blizzard with his primary abilities, heroic abilities, and trait explained.
All of his abilities in Heroes of the Storm is similar to himself in Overwatch, except for his Q, Storm Bow, and his second heroic ability (R2), Dragon's Arrow.
Hanzo's Hero Trait is Natural Agility. It is like a weaker version of his brother, Genji's Cyber Agility whereby he can only jump over unpassable terrains. Natural Agility can be used to quickly get out of harm's way or surprise attack enemies out of nowhere.
Storm Bow (Q) is very similar to a full bow draw in Overwatch, the longer Hanzo draws his bow, the further the arrow will travel. He can still move around when charging up Storm Bow and he can hold it indefinitely.
Hanzo W is Scatter Arrow. Players who are familiar with him in Overwatch will know that it works just the same in Heroes of the Storm, he fires an arrow that ricochets off unpassable terrains and splits into five projectiles. The only thing that is different from the Overwatch version is that he is unable to shoot at the ground in front of the enemy for a one-shot kill, so players got no excuse to be salty over it. If all five of the projectiles hits an enemy hero, a huge damage spike will be dealt.
Sonic Arrow, Hanzo's E ability also has a similar function to the Overwatch version. Shooting Sonic Arrow in an area reveals enemies in a large radius for a short period, even those who are invisible like Nova and Zeratul. Landing Sonic Arrow on an enemy hero will turn that hero into a walking ward. Wherever that hero moves, Sonic Arrow's area of effect shifts around with it until the effect expires.
Hanzo's first heroic ability is Dragonstrike. Similar to Overwatch, he shoots an arrow in the targeted direction and after a short delay, the twisting dragons appear, damaging enemies that are positioned within its path.
His second heroic ability is called Dragon's Arrow. Hanzo fires an arrow that has unlimited range. Dragon's Arrow explodes after hitting an enemy hero, damaging and stunning enemies in a small area of effect. The amount of damage and the duration of the stun increases with the distance it travels.
The same Graviton Surge-Dragonstrike combo can be pulled off by Zarya and Hanzo to deal maximum damage or finish off enemies, just like in Overwatch. If you choose to learn Dragon's Arrow instead of Dragonstrike, you can enable lots of different combos with your teammates after stunning enemies with it, like Genji's X-Strike. Hanzo is a very immobile hero if there are no terrains around him or when Natural Agility is on cooldown. Try to avoid fighting in open spaces as he is susceptible to heroes who can dive onto him.
New Training Ground, New Outfit
Hanzo will immediately have 8 new skins upon his arrival at the Nexus. Three of the skins are the same skins that you can find in Overwatch, whereas the Fastrider Hanzo skin has five different color combination.
Overall, Hanzo does look strong in the Champion Spotlight but we can only find out once he arrives in the Nexus. Try Hanzo out now at the Heroes of the Storm PTR server and get a glimpse of him before he arrives at the live server.
