Will Battlefront 2 Bring Back Hangar Bay Battles?

By Nicolas See Tho on Oct 10, 2017

Recently during our time playing the acclaimed Star Wars Battlefront 2 beta, we discovered that the Starfighter menu has an option for players to exit their starfighters. This could mean many things but we hope that it is a hint that the amazing hangar bay battles from the old Star Wars Battlefront 2 might make a comeback in this new iteration.

During its heyday, the PlayStation 2's Battlefront 2 saw a very different kind of space battles, which had players completing objectives by first destroying the shield generator on the starships then proceeding to fight their way through those starships hangar bays in order to blow up their core reactor which in turn destroys the ship. Back then this meant prolonged battles and more action as you were able to control Jedi or Sith fighters and interceptors during the battle which meant, their pilot would also be carrying a lightsaber for close quarter battles.

These were the days where you literally had to fight for each objective.

While it might be a pipe dream to see these battles return, it does not mean that it might completely be out of the works, as this could be a ploy for extended DLCs and further campaign missions. On the more logical scale, this option on the starfighter menu could also just be the default template for every starfighter which would probably make sense.

Either way, we are just as excited as you are when playing Star Wars Battlefront 2, and as the beta draws to a close tomorrow, we can't wait until the game is fully released and we can do a full review on the game.
