It hasn't even been a full year since the Razer Games Store came live and now we're seeing its end. After starting back in April, Razer is shutting down their games store, including their official Lazada storefront which was the main hub for those of us in Malaysia.
Razer made this announcement on their official page, stating that the reason behind the closure is due to its "realignment plans". The store will be available up until 28 February 2019, and will honour and fulfill customer pre-orders as best as they can.
It's a tough competition to sell games onlines, just recently we covered Epic Games vs. Steam in their attempt to be the top in PC Games. It's also looking like a lot of gaming companies are letting go of certain aspects due to realignment plans. We're looking at you Activision Blizzard.
Even so, Razer Games Store was a little unique as it gave gamers some great deals on games rather than be a direct portal to purchase games, and also utilised the "Razer Gold" digital currency. We're sad to see it go, but we're also hopeful that better plans from Razer are in store this year.
