As Fortnite’s fifth season goes strong with the ever-updating content, update 5.20 aims to add a bit more than just the usual bug fixes and what not. After the milestone celebration of update 5.10, which coincided with the game’s One Year Anniversary, update 5.20 takes us back on track.
For starters, yes all the birthday festivities, all the special decorations they had for the event are gone and we’re back to vanilla Season 5. A new weapon comes in the form of the Double Barreled Shotgun, a very powerful close-range weapon. This item comes in the Epic and Legendary variants, expect to find this in the usual loot spots, from supply boxes and more.
While the Limited Time Mode, Playground is still back, there’s a new way to play with this update. Steady Storm is a mode where the storm will steadily close in for 15 minutes, with no safe zones in between for the player to catch a breath. Keep moving or die trying. This is a quick mode that will surely be a fun distraction from the main game.
For mobile phones, specifically IOS as the Android version will be reaching us soon, the update adds customisable fire mode selection. Before this, you could only choose either tap to shoot, auto-fire, or a dedicated button to shoot your gun. Now you can mix-and-match these preferences and customise. So for example, you could have both tap to shoot and auto fire on at the same time, allowing you to be more quick on the draw.
Other new options include a FPS mode setting, which allows you to pick the frames per second output of the game for your device, optimising it for better enjoyment of the game. There’s also a kill feed, similar to the “Kill Cam” from Call of Duty, where you can see your teammates’ kills and what weapons they used. And last but not least is that the Playground Mode has been fixed for mobile.
Week 5 challenges leaked: pic.twitter.com/mdb8FrzmZk— Fortrise(n) 📨 (@fortrisen) July 28, 2018
A recent tweet by @fortrisen, which are known for leaking challenges before, shows the upcoming challenges that are coming to Week 5 of Season 5. And they are in fact more of the usual, kill enemies, deal damage with a grenade etc. So not much to write home about, but still something to note as the Week 4 challenges are still available for players to do.
