SEA Major 2018 Brings Garena’s Mobile Games Into The Spotlight

By Jasmin on Jul 12, 2018

This Saturday (14 July), Flash Vision and BEast of the East will be holding this year’s SEA Major eSports event at Battle Arena, Jaya Shopping Centre. The tournament will feature two mobile games made by Garena; battle royal game Free Fire: Royal Rush and mobile MOBA Arena of Valor (AOV). They will also be unveiling a brand new mobile game!

The Free Fire tournament is powered by the new ASUS Zenfone Max Pro M1 and will be contested by 104 players from 26 Malaysian squads, featuring a RM12,000 prize pool. There will be two qualifiers consisting of three matches each and featuring 13 squads playing simultaneously. The Top 12 squads from both qualifiers will then move on to the Grand Finals, where the champions will be determined in a Best of 3 series.

Those who become champions will walk away with RM4,000 and each squad member will walk away with a Zenfone Max Pro M1 each!

As HyperX is the official headset for the Garena games, there will also be a HyperX Cloud Alpha gaming headset (worth RM419) awarded to the player with the most kills in the Free Fire Grand Finals, who will also be deemed the HyperX Top Killer.

For the mobile MOBA AOV, there will be a 1v1 challenge where participants stand a chance to walk away with permanent character skins like Sharpshooter Violet or Academy Butterfly. The event will also be holding a raffle, where players can win the brand new mage character: Liliana.

A live presentation by eGG Network’s hosts, Danelie and Faraz, alongside the World Street Fighter champion, Xian, will be held in conjunction with the unveiling of Garena’s new mobile game; an upcoming side-shooter from a classic 30-year old franchise. Those who attend the event can also participate in activities for a chance to win HyperX Cloud Stinger Core (worth RM299) headsets and limited edition merchandise for the upcoming game. This will be the first time this game is previewed in South East Asia.

Those who are interested in the event but can’t physically be there can watch a live broadcast of SEA Major 2018 on the eGG Network on Astro (channel 808) from 12PM onwards.
