PlayStation has always been one of the most interesting press conferences in E3. Other than their previous announcements, PlayStation promised to deliver us the new contents of The Last of Us Part II, Death Stranding, Spider-Man and Ghosts of Tsushima. Let’s check out what else PlayStation has brought to us in this year’s E3.
The Last of Us Part II
Ellie is all grown up and mingling with other survivors in the most anticipated game, The Last of Us Part II. From sharing a special moment with her lover, the 11-minute trailer took a sharp turn by showing Ellie was trying to flee from the pursuit of an unknown gang. In this latest trailer, Naughty Dog also unveiled the stealth gameplay, polished combat system and new bow crafting mode.
Ghosts of Tsushima
Although it was recently announced in E3 last year, Sucker Punch Productions is killing it with the gameplay debut of Ghost of Tsushima. You play as Jin Sakai who is the last samurai of a noble clan after witnessing the Mongol empire invasion of his home, Tsushima island. Jin is a skilled samurai with the masterful sword combat and unconventional parkour skills as he teamed up with another character named Masako to fend off the insurmountable attacks.
After a series of cryptic trailers, players will take a closer look into the life of Sam Bridges played by Norman Reedus, who is responsible to carry an important remnant that will hold the key to a better life in the future. As he embarks to finish his quest, every step leads him closer to death by an invisible and harmful entity. This new trailer of Death Stranding also revealed two performances by Lea Seydoux and Lindsay Wagner.
Taken from the demo, our friendly neighbourhood Spider-Man swings further into the high maximum security of The Raft prison along with Yuri Watanabe. Determined to take down Electro, the clashing between the two caused massive damage that unleashed the prisoners such as Vulture, Rhino and many more. Marvel's Spider-Man is set to launch on 7 September 2018.
Developed by Remedy Entertainment that is mostly known for Max Payne and Alan Wake series, Control follows the story of a young woman named Jesse Faden who is elected as the new Director of the Bureau of Control. As the appointed leader of the organisation, your goal is to fight against mystical enemies like the Hiss inside the shifting walls of Bureau's headquarter.
Resident Evil 2
Relive one of the best Resident Evil classic in all-new top-down remake using Capcom's RE engine. Resident Evil 2 brings us back to the first introduction of two fan favourite characters in Resident Evil series: the rookie cop Leon S. Kennedy and a college student Claire Redfield. Both of them are trapped in the midst of zombie outbreak in Racoon City. In addition, Leon and Claire will have their own separate campaigns. Resident Evil 2 is set to release on 25 January 2019.
The announcement of Nioh 2 came out of nowhere during the PlayStation press conference. The sequel for the game that is constantly compared with Dark Souls is still in development by Team Ninja. However, we're still in the dark about the details of Nioh's next game.
Kingdom Hearts III
Different from the previous trailer shown in Microsoft's conference, Sora and his friends meet with Captain Jack Sparrow into the world of Pirates of the Carribean. Kingdom Hearts III is set to launch on 29 January 2018 for PS4 and Xbox One.
Déraciné is an upcoming PSVR game developed by FromSoftware who is not working on Bloodborne 2. The game tells the tale of a spirit summoned by a young girl in the secluded boarding school. Without knowing the real identity of a young girl, you must form a strong bond with the student by exploiting the forces of life and time.
Trover Saves The Universe
From the co-creators of Rick and Morty, Trover Saves The Universe is wonky platformer coming to PS4 and PSVR. In this weird trailer, the presumably main character introduced the gameplay by playing the game in a bathtub and he... got electrocuted.
Other than the slew of PS4 and PSVR announcements, PlayStation also unveiled a new story trailer for Destiny 2's next expansion: Destiny 2: Forsaken this 4 September. Moreover, PS Plus subscribers rejoice as Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 is free on PS4 starting tonight until 11 July in conjunction of upcoming Call of Duty: Black Ops 4.
