It turns out that S.T.A.L.K.E.R 2 is now currently in the works by Ukranian game developer GSC Game World who developed the original S.T.A.L.K.E.R trilogy series.
This is classified under the unexpected news category because I did not see this coming at all. This startling announcement was made by GSC Game World CEO Sergiy Grygorovych via a Facebook post.
The Facebook post also includes a landing website that displays the game’s name, the release year and a contact email.
Almost a decade ago, S.T.A.L.K.E.R 2 was announced in August 2010 with the expected release date for 2012 but unfortunately, the game had to be put on a halt in April 2012. Soon after the cancellation, the original team behind S.T.A.L.K.E.R 2 started a new company called Vostok Games to develop free-to-play online shooter Survarium
Their latest instalment to the series is 2009’s Call of the Pripyat that takes place after the events of Shadow of Chernobyl. The player took control of former ‘Stalker’ Major Degtyarev and is sent into The Zone in Pripyat to find the cause of a series of mysterious helicopter crashes that has endangered the military’s operation.
So far, there are no photos, videos or anything to suggest S.T.A.L.K.E.R 2 is really in it’s development phase. Well, I guess we’ll just have to wait and see.
