Zapdos, Articuno, Moltres, Lugia, Ho-Oh, the gang's all here! After a year of Pokémon Go and as a part of this one year anniversary, Niantic is ready to release the legendary Pokémon for the world to catch.

Niantic stated in their official announcement:
"As Trainers around the world go out and explore their neighborhoods in search of Pokémon and Raid Battles, they can keep an eye out for unique Legendary Eggs appearing at Gyms. If Trainers and their team are able to successfully defeat a Legendary Raid Boss, they’ll have the opportunity to catch a Legendary Pokémon of their own! While Legendary Pokémon will help them take on the toughest Raid Bosses and Gym Battles, they’re not willing to leave their Trainer’s side, so they can’t be left to defend Gyms."
Players of Team Mystic, Team Instinct and Team Valor can now band together to catch their Legendary bird mascots and other fellow legendaries from across the first and second generations of Pokémon. As stated above, the Legendary Pokémon can be caught by players who complete the raid and players are not allowed to leave Legendary Pokémon in gyms. But there is a catch before Niantic starts rolling out all the legendaries.Trainers attending the Pokémon Go Fest must capture enough Pokémon in Grant Park, where the festival is taking place, for the Legendary Raid Boss to appear. Then if they manage to defeat the Legendary Raid Boss, the raids will be available to players all around the world after the festival is over. May Arceus be with all of us.
The Legendary Birds, Lugia, Ho-Oh, Mew, Mew 2 and much more will join the fray soon. This might be a good time to pick the game up again and go forth on the quest to be the best like no one ever was. Here's hoping those who are at Pokémon Go Fest get to achieve this feat and release the legendaries to the world.
