What We Know So Far About Anthem & The Upcoming Battlefield V

In a recent earnings call, Electronic Arts (EA) had revealed more details regarding two of its upcoming IPs, namely: the new Battlefield game and Anthem.

Before touching on the aforementioned titles, Andrew Wilson, EA’s CEO disclosed that “Battlefield’s ecosystem of games has more than 54 million players life to date across current generation consoles and PC”, noting fan’s loyalty towards their favourite Battlefield titles.

Without further ado, here’s what we know so far about:

- Slated to be released in second half of 2018.

- Will be showcased at E3.

- In this new Battlefield (World War II-themed) game, “DICE is bringing the intensity of combat to life in new and unexpected ways.”

- “Every battle is unique, and every mode brings its own challenges – from the way you interact with the environment around you, to compelling single-player stories, to the next level of large-scale multiplayer that spans across multiple maps and modes.”

- Wilson stated that the game will be a “deep and fully-featured shooter and ongoing service that will evolve with major new experiences for our community, beginning right from launch.”

- Besides maintaining its signature Battlefield gameplay and advancing “the state of the art for the franchise”, the new title will be built on “Battlefield 1’s success, taking inspiration from DICE’s core DNA”.    


- Slated to be released in early 2019.

- Will be showcased at E3.

- Every dimension of this shared-world action-RPG will provide “something entirely new for a wide audience of players.”

- Anthem will be a new universe with unique stories, created by BioWare.

- The game will have cooperative gameplay, with an “epic and beautiful environment that constantly evolves around players.”

- Wilson boasted that this title “is a fundamentally social experience, and we will open new ways for fans to join the community and play early, enabling us to shape and refine the game with their input and feedback.”

Last but not the least, EA’s CEO also promised that these two titles’ “experiences are introducing new dynamics that begin to change the way fans interact with their games, and with each other.”
