Today was a special day for Dota 2 fans, as Mineski Events Team (MET) , the SEA premiere esports organiser in collaboration with U Mobile and Logitech G has announced the launch of the inaugural Malaysia Esports League (MESL), which is aimed at bringing the Malaysian esports scene to the next level, and heralding this platform will be the global No.1 most played game, Dota 2.
MESL is poised to be the biggest Dota 2 esports league ever hosted in Malaysia with a total prize pool of RM 500,000, which is the highest ever recorded in Malaysia. Additionally, the champion team will also receive RM50,000 if the players are also U Mobile customers. Coupled with the attractive prize money, local esports athletes are provided a stable platform to hone and showcase their skills while simultaneously creating an internationally recognized foundation in esports via the support of the MESL sponsors.

The open qualifiers for the league kick off on the 2nd of September with coverage all across the Peninsular & East Malaysia. The top 16 teams from each qualifier will face off in the group stages of the league for 3 months, which will then lead to the top 8 teams vying for an advancement to the playoffs stage. Everything will close with a great bang at the Grand Finals which is taking place next year February. While there is no date set yet, the estimated date was given to be before Chinese New Year celebrations.
Each game from the group stages up to the Grand Finals will be aired on Astro’s eGG network and Twitch.tv, making it easy for local esports fans to keep up with their favorite team progress., with each game broadcasted in beautiful High Definition(HD). U Mobile customers will also have the benefit of free game streaming via Astro Go via Video-Onz, the telco’s service which offers unlimited data for streaming.
