It’s no question that eSports is just unavoidable and the popularity is ever growing. Whether it’s major tournaments for DOTA 2 or Overwatch, game companies are taking note and are shifting their strategies to accommodate for this new phenomenon. Tekken has been a fighting game mainstay in many tournaments such as EVO, and the director of the series, Katsuhiro Harada is a celebrity in his own right. Well, he is now also the leader and supervisor in Bandai Namco’s eSports Strategy team.
To everyone in the "DRAGON BALL FighterZ", "TEKKEN", and "SoulCalibur" community.— Katsuhiro Harada (@Harada_TEKKEN) December 27, 2018

In an official tweet, Harada-san announced his new post as well as explained the nature of Bandai Namco’s future endeavours. He explains that Bandai Namco will provide more support for eSports tournaments, especially for their top 3 current fighting games that have been making the rounds at major tournaments across the globe. These games are Tekken 7, Soulcalibur VI, as well as Dragon Ball FighterZ.
Harada-san also notes that there will be more official tournaments from Bandai Namco themselves, as well as further support and assistance from the company towards more community run tournaments. In addition to this, he will also continue to be the producer for his hit franchise, Tekken.
Overall, this is a great boon to the fighting game community, especially with Harada-san already being a well-known figure in the scene, his great relationship with the fans, as well as Bandai Namco’s solid lineup of premier fighting games. We wish him all the best in the year to come. Keep up with Gamehubs on Facebook and Twitter to be up to date on all things gaming!
