Sturdy sales for PlayStation 4 and its games during the 2017 holiday season helped achieved numerous milestones

End of the year is a season of gifting indeed. During the holiday season, Sony Interactive Entertainment made robust sales for their PlayStation 4 (PS4) console as well as its game titles according to their announcement today.

Based on Sony Interactive Entertainment's report, more than 5.9 million units of PS4 has sold through to consumers during the past couple of months. As of December 31 2017, more than 73.6 million PS$ units have been sold according to the data collected in Japan from 2/22/2014 – 12/31/2017, in North America from 11/15/2013 – 12/30/2017, in Latin America from 11/29/2013 – 12/30/2017, in Europe from 11/29/2013  – 12/31/2017, and in Asia from 12/17/2013 – 12/31/2017. On top of that, more than 55.9 million PS4 games were sold during the 2017 holiday season in retail stores and digital downloads around the world. This adds and totals up to 645 million games sold as of December 31 2017.

He also added that there are more than 31.5 million PlayStation Plus subscribers and December 2017 saw PS Store monthly content sales recorded an all time high. “PlayStation Network continues to demonstrate spectacular growth, with the number of PlayStation Plus subscribers surpassing 31.5 million, and PS Store recording its largest-ever monthly contents sales in December 2017. I would like to express my deepest gratitude to our community and our partners for helping us achieve such phenomenal milestones. We promise our unwavering commitment to bring more amazing experiences to our fans, including exclusive games and innovative network services, as PS4 continues to flourish as the best place to play.”
