To commemorate the monumental milestone of selling 500 million PlayStations from PS1 to PS4, Sony is releasing a 500 Million Limited Edition PS4 Pro that has a translucent dark blue case with gold streaks, which is certainly a blast from the past. Translucent hardware was a big deal back in the 90s and early 2000s so it’s a nice homage to the good old gaming days.
As Sony has surpassed the 500 million mark (523.5 million to be exact) a while ago, the 500 Million Limited Edition bundle will include the 2 TB PlayStation 4 Pro with a matching translucent DualShock 4 controller, a stand, a headset as well as a PlayStation camera, which is sadly not in blue colour.
On top of that, the Japanese company will be launching this limited edition bundle for only 50,000 units worldwide. Each console has its individual copper plate that is etched with the system’s limited edition number.
Sony is no stranger of releasing limited edition consoles to honour its history from the 20th PlayStation anniversary to Days of Play celebration. In 2014, Sony launched a console, which was a throwback to the old school PlayStation 1’s iconic gray finish complete with different coloured PlayStation logo. The company also has an affinity with the colours blue and gold when Sony previously made the PlayStation 4 Slim in royal blue, embossed with gold PlayStation button symbols for this year’s Days of Play.
PlayStation 4 Pro 500 Million Limited Edition bundle will be sold at USD$499 (RM2,038) starting this 24 August. In case you’re not into that sleek translucent blue action, Sony will also offer the 500 Million controller for PS4 owners.
