The highly anticipated sequel to Ni No Kuni: Wrath of The White Witch, Level 5's console RPG masterpiece for the PS3, is delayed to January 19th of 2018. Ni No Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom was originally slated for release this year in the fall for PS4 and PC, but has been post-poned for polishing and further development. In a video by Bandai Namco's twitter, the CEO of Level 5 and Ni No Kuni II's director, Akihiro Hino, updates fans of the development of the game and it's release date.

The game's director also clarifies that Ni No Kuni II will not have a multiplayer component despite which was reported before in an interview he gave during E3.
The Ni No Kuni franchise started out as a 10-year anniversary project by Level 5, with Studio Ghibli, the studio behind Totoro and Spirited Away, collaborating with them by providing character designs and animations. The games are published by Bandai Namco with the first game being released for the Nintendo DS and then remastered and localized for the PS3.
Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch was an instant classic, a true JRPG with a fairy tale-inspired story and incredible visuals. It's Pokémon-like battle system where players have to catch, train and "evolve" familiars was great and really was a good substitute for a console Pokémon game that was not on a Nintendo system. Not only that, the game also has JRPG staples like spells and summoning in the mix, so the game really is like a love letter to the JRPG genre with a "Greatest Hits of JRPGs" approach to the combat system.
All in all, it's a shame that the sequel is delayed as we here on Gamehubs love us some JRPGs. But nonetheless, it is for the better and we can definitely wait. In the meantime, try to check out the first Ni No Kuni on the PS3 while waiting for the second one's release. You will definitely not regret it.
