After a great showing in 2016, Redbull Coliseum is back again for 2017 and it's going to be a bigger and better season, with an additional game title, increased prize pool, as well as extra countries participating.
Season 1 of Redbull Coliseum featured three of the most popular game titles out there- DOTA 2, Counter Strike: Global Offensive and FIFA 16, with a prize pool of RM50,000 up for grabs. Season 2 will have an additional of 2 fast-growing titles- Overwatch and FIFA Online 3 for players to compete in, as well as a prize pool of RM100,000 across all 5 titles, which is doubled from last year's amount. Instead of having only Malaysians participating in it, Redbull Coliseum Season 2 is open to Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia, and Philippines to increase the competitiveness and also to further unify the SEA e-Sports community. Jate Samathivathanachai, Director of Strategy at Allexcel, Redbull Malaysia's brand representative, said "Here at Redbull Malaysia, we believe in continuous improvement so in a nutshell, here's what RBC Season 2 will look like: 5 games, 5 countries, over 5,500 players and a RM100,000 prize pool. We also believe in synergy and will be looping in four blue-chip partners who'll help us make Season 2 an unforgettable one."
Redbull Coliseum Season 2 also sees Redbull Malaysia launched its partnership initiative with the leaders in their respective fields: Micro Star International (MSI) as the official laptop partner, Logitech as the official peripherals partner, Digi Telecommunications as the official streaming partner, and Air Asia as the official travel partner.
