Pokémon GO Goes Blue This Weekend With TWO Featured Pokemon!

By Jasmin on Jul 4, 2018

This weekend brings us not just one, but two special Pokémon GO “Days”. Trainers all over the world will see blue this weekend as two famously blue Pokémon originally found in Kanto will be featured across two days this weekend.

Saturday, 7th July: Articuno Day!

That's right! That's a Shiny Articuno!
That's right! That's a Shiny Articuno!

Last weekend was this year’s first Safari Zone event, held in Dortmund, Germany. Trainers all over the world collectively completed 15,100,000 Research Tasks and unlocked a bonus reward: Articuno Day!

For three hours this Saturday, the Legendary Bird Articuno will return once more to Legendary Raids. Spinning a Photo Disk at a Gym during the event will grant you five free Raid Passes in order to give you the chance to find a shiny Articuno! This is now the third Legendary to have it’s Shiny variant released, only this time Niantic is giving us all a better shot at getting one.

I sure wish I got those Raid Passes when shiny Ho-Oh was loose… *cough* Remember to bring your Tyranitar team to the Raid!

Sunday, 8th July: Squirtle Day!

As per 2018 tradition, every month holds a Community Day featuring one Pokémon. Their Shinies will be released into the wild and within the three hour window, you’ll be able to obtain an exclusive move only available during the Community Day window.

This month features my favourite Kanto starter: Squirtle. Evolving one into Blastoise will give you Hydro Cannon as a Charge move. And not only will Squirtle’s Shiny be available to catch, but Pokémon GO has added every Trainer’s childhood dream: the Squirtle Squad. Squirtles sporting sunglasses will be available to catch through special Community Day Research Tasks.

Maybe if you’re lucky, you’ll get a Shiny sunglasses-wearing Squirtle!

Maybe we can catch the whole Squad!

This is just the tip of the iceberg of this Summer’s Pokémon GO festivities. Wanna know what else you can look forward to? Read up here.
