Nearly four years after it's release, Overkill's co-op heist shooter Payday 2 will be getting an Ultimate Edition bundle that offers the base game and its large catalogue of DLC as one $45 (RM195.75) package.
Set to release on June 8, the Ultimate Edition will offer a cheaper and more inviting prospect than buying the game and its 40 priced DLC separately. In the mean time, you can enjoy discounts of up to 85% off for the DLC until the Ultimate Edition's release, which is great if you've set your sights on only some of the DLC packs. There will also be an option to upgrade to the new bundle version, with the price depending on how many DLCs you already own.
This doesn't spell the end of new Payday 2 content however. Those will continue to come until October 2018 (instead of the end of this year), and better yet, they will be free. An exception is the Ethan and Hila character pack, which will add the husband-wife duo from Youtube channel h3h3Productions into the Payday 2 universe. "We are doing this because we appreciate Ethan and Hila and want to find a way to help them out financially so they can continue to do what they do best as independent creators," explained Overkill in an FAQ provided here. "The subsequent revenue from the Ethan and Hila Character Pack is going straight to Ethan and Hila themselves, and we at OVERKILL get 0%."
Aside from this, the game will also be coming to VR, allowing players to immerse themselves in the heists and their insanely high killcounts. The VR version will be free for all Payday 2 owners and includes all content, and allows for cross-play between VR and non-VR players as well. Check it out in action below.
Overkill noted that the Ultimate Edition bundle will only be available on Steam, although PS4 and Xbox One players will be receiving new content as well. A Nintendo Swich version of Payday 2 is also in the works, while Payday 3 is already in pre-production.
