At the recent D.I.C.E Summit 2017 organized by The Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences, besides talks by developers from various leading companies in the gaming industry, the academy also organized the 20th Annual D.I.C.E Awards to hand out several awards to the games that truly deserved it, and Blizzard's latest title, Overwatch was the big winner at the event, no surprise there.

Out of all the possible awards, Overwatch was nominated for six of it and The Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences decided to award 4 titles to them. The most prestigious award won has to be the Game of the Year. The game is not even one year old and they have already received 2 game of the year awards, one from the D.I.C.E Awards 2017 and the other from last year's The Games Award.

The other 3 awards that was given to Overwatch are Outstanding Achievement in Game Design, Outstanding Achievement in Online Gameplay, as well as Action Game of the Year. The two awards that slipped through their fingers were the Outstanding Achievement in Animation and Outstanding Technical Achievement which both of it were won by Naughty Dog's Uncharted 4: A Thief's End. All of the games were evaluated and judge by a panel of Academy peers consisting of the game industry's most experienced and talented professionals, and the winners were voted by the academy members.

Overwatch was released in May 2016 and in such short period of time, they have already bagged numerous awards from different events. Across all of the game's playable platform, which are PC, Playstation 4 and Xbox One, the game has already surpassed 25 million players from all around the world, definitely an impressive feat. The full list of winners from the D.I.C.E Awards 2017 is available in The Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences' website.
