2 months gone by so quickly as Season 6 of Overwatch Competitive play has come to an end a couple of days ago, which also marks the beginning of Season 7. While at that, Blizzard also announced the Overwatch Open Division, a region-based, Master rank and above players only tournament.
Competitive Season 7
If you have played during Season 6, then Season 7 will not be a problem for you as there will be no changes to it. Season 7 will last for 2 months, Control maps like Nepal, Lijiang Tower, Oasis, and Ilios will be played in a best of 3 format instead of best of 5 in Seasons 1 to 5.
Speaking of Nepal, the only thing different from Season 6 is that players who have at least completed their placement matches for Season 7 will receive a Nepal themed spray and player icon. If you are placed in the Top 500 players on your platform and in your region at the end of the season, you’ll receive an extra player icon and a Nepal themed animated spray.
On top of that, as you complete competitive matches, you’ll earn a currency called Competitive Points. When the season concludes, you’ll also receive a number of these points based on your season high ranking, to purchase golden weapons for your favorite heroes.
Season 7 should end a day or two before Christmas. So you still have ample amount of time to grind and climb in rankings. Good luck and remember to stay on the payload!
