NieR: Automata Day One Edition can finally be bought from Steam in the rest of Asia! (Updated)

Update: The following are the Asian territories that now have access to the game: Hong Kong, Macao, China, Taiwan, Korea, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Philippines, Vietnam and Indonesia. Also, the price has jumped from RM190 to RM249; other countries in Asia have experienced price changes as well, it seems. This Steam post lists the original and current prices.

Original article: It's here, it's finally here. NieR: Automata, which had previously been unavailable on Steam for many countries in Asia including Malaysia, is now, well, available! And it's not even the 30th of April yet.

Alright, so we can finally get to playing the game on our PCs. But what about the price and the pre-order bonuses? Well, this being the Day One Edition, you can certainly expect to receive the following items when you purchase the game:

  • Valve Character Accessory
  • Cardboard Pod Skin
  • Retro Grey Pod Skin
  • Retro Red Pod Skin
  • Grimoire Weiss Pod
  • Machine Mask Accessory

These were the same stuff that were advertised when the game could only be pre-ordered (for other countries, anyway), so the delay fortunately hasn't resulted in us missing out on them. As for the price - it's RM190. A bit pricey, but not an unexpected number.

There's one downside to the price - the game's first DLC is coming out on May 2, which is just next week. That DLC, marvelously titled “3C3C1D119440927”, will bring colosseums, sub-quests and CEO boss battles to the mix. Below are the rewards you'll get from completing the quests:

• Costumes from the previous Japanese release, Nier: Replicant for Androids 2B, 9S and A2.
• Records that add special music tracks to your jukebox.
• New equipment and cosmetic accessories such as hairspray that allows you to change the colour of 2B and A2’s hair
• Masks with unique “on equip” effects
• Special bullets that change the appearance of enemy bullets

On the bright side, with the game's belated release and multiple alternate endings, missing out on the DLC upon release doesn't seem like that big of a deal, especially if the next Steam sale (which shouldn't be too far off) brings us a discount.

Anyway, it's time to prep our controllers and prepare to bring glory to mankind with 2B...
