Its pretty clear that Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle is really taking liberties with both franchises' unique quirks and mashing it up for a crazy adventure, with an XCOM-like tactical battle system to really hammer home this weird concept. And I for one, cannot wait to get my hands on this game. The new trailer highlights all the crazy RPG action that Mario and the gang are gonna be going through with this installment. Showing off all new weapons, new areas and biomes to explore, never-before-seen enemies and so much more. The trailer shows Yoshi, with a bazooka. Enough said.
All out tactical, Rabbids warfare is happening all over the Mushroom Kingdom, and Mario and his party of Rabbids and friends find themselves fighting Rabbids of all shapes and sizes with a myriad of hand cannons, melee weapons and all equipped with their own skills and abilities. The trailer also shows off a "phantom-like" Rabbid opera singer boss battle, taunting Mario's party with an operatic song chock full of Mario references. "It'sa me! "Let'sa go! The only words you know!" Ouch, somebody brought the fire flower to this battle.
Lately, Nintendo has been nailing it with songs for their Nintendo Switch games, like Mario Odyssey's new theme song, which really knocks you out of the park with its jazzy melodies.
Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle will be released on the 29th of August 2017. If you have a Switch and are looking for a good Mario RPG in the vein of Mario and Luigi: Superstar Saga but with a cover-shooting, strategy twist, then this is the game for you. Fans can also pick up the Collector's Edition, which includes the game, collector cards, the soundtrack (which was composed by Banjo and Kazooie's Grant Kirkhope) and a 6-inch Rabbid Mario figurine that's surprisingly not an amiibo.
