In conjunction with the release of Devil May Cry HD Collection for PC, PS4 and Xbox One, Capcom decided to announce another piece of exciting news: there will be a Monster Hunter: World and Devil May Cry crossover event happening sometime this year. Following the previous crossover events involving Horizon: Zero Dawn and Street Fighter V, looks like the beloved classic Devil May Cry series is the next game in line.
According to the official Capcom announcement, players will “get to fight hellish foes in Monster Hunter: World to earn the devious combination of the Force Edge and Alastor. In Monster Hunter, that weapon falls in the Charge Blade category, and typically features a hefty shield that, when combined with its matching sword, can turn into a massive axe. As you can see, we’re putting a bit of a DMC twist to the formula and leaving the shield out of the picture altogether (you’ll still be able to guard though) and instead of a sword turning into an axe, you’ll get a Force Edge that turns into a massive Alastor. [...]Please stay tuned for more information on when this content will be available. It will be available to all Monster Hunter: World players; you just need to complete the right Event Quest when the time comes.”
The Monster Hunter: World X Devil May Cry time-limited event has no set date yet, though it will be happening this year. During the event, players will be able to get the classic Dante getup (lustrous, snow white-hair and sexy-looking red coat) and the Force Edge weapon.
I used to play Devil May Cry during the PS2 era so this is definitely nostalgic yet fresh at the same time! This event plays out like a ‘best of both worlds’ situation, attracting both Monster Hunter and Devil May Cry fans, while also making your copy of Monster Hunter: World completely worthwhile.
