Mobile games have come a long way from swimming with the casual players to dive into the competitive players’ pool. To take a step further in recognising the growing mobile esports in this region, the Mobile Star League (MSL) is orchestrated by a Malaysian esports events startup company Seth & Merv Productions.

According to TiltReport, the league presents the base opportunities for professional mobile esports players or teams to grow and compete on a regular basis, with the chance to go on an international stage. The one-of-its-kind mobile esports league will begin with the hot mobile game Mobile Legends Bang Bang tournament between professional teams across Southeast Asia

8 top teams from Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Philippines and Indonesia will be invited to participate in MSL. The participating teams will be competing for the total prize pool of USD$10,000 but, the overall champion will take home the prize reward of USD$4,000.

So far, there are four teams confirmed for the league, which are IDonotsleep ESports from Thailand, AirAsia Saiyan from Malaysia and EVOS Mobile eSports, as well as Bigetron Esports from Indonesia. Another four teams will be announced later through their official Facebook page.

The Mobile Star League of Mobile Legends Bang Bang tournament kicks off from 10 July to 25 August 2018 and adopts the best-out-of-2 round robin format over the course of six weeks. The winning 4 teams from the group stages round will go toe-to-toe in a double elimination match format in search for the ultimate winner of the competition. For further details, you can refer to the full details of the tournament below:

  • First Runner-Up: USD$2,000

Although we have seen the immense growth of mobile esports competitions especially for Mobile Legends with the currently-running Mobile Legends Professional League (MPL) Season 2 and the Mobile Legends South East Asia Cup (MSC), it will be a wise move for the management of MSL to be on the lookout for other titles to be part of this major league. MSL hopes to include more mobile esports title other than Mobile Legends in its efforts to diversify its lineup in the future.
