We are three days away from the official reveal of Star Wars: Battlefront II at Star Wars Celebration, but the wait was cut short thanks to a leaked promo last night. The video in question features in-game engine footage, along with multiple teasers of a campaign mode and heroes from multiple Star Wars era.
The trailer can be viewed on Vimeo, but make sure to be quick about it since it might be pulled at any moment. It promises a single-player mode in the form of an “untold soldier’s story”, which will get fans excited considering the first Battlefront lacked a proper story mode. With that said, the brief description can’t be held accountable for what kind of story mode we’ll be getting, but it’s certainly hopeful.
On top of that, we’ll also be getting a multiplayer mode, which is expected, but more importantly, players will have access to heroes from multiple eras as promised earlier by EA. Glimpses of Yoda, Darth Maul, Kylo Ren and Rey were shown in the trailer, signifying a larger content than the lackluster ones in the first Battlefront. Early buyers will also get pre-order bonus characters from the upcoming movie Star Wars: The Last Jedi.
As much as we are excited about what’s shown in the trailer, we might get a more in-depth look into Battlefront II during the official reveal on April 15 at Star Wars Celebration, with developer EA DICE’s media director Randy Evan teasing on Twitter, saying “this is without question the biggest trailer we've ever produced". I just hope they’ll at least show the prequel Anakin Skywalker in action, which will relive the good old days of 2005’s Battlefront II.
