Update: Bungie has officially announced Destiny 2 via a simple image on Twitter. Simple is a relative term here as the picture hints at how the story will progress in the MMO shooter sequel, with The Last City seemingly in flames. Of course, there are other rumors about how Destiny 2's story will shape up to be, but we won't know for sure until Activision or Bungie reveals more details about it.

If you are one of the millions of Destiny players and you are still looking for a reason to hype about the sequel, you certainly have one now after this latest leak from yet another retailer. The leak came via an Italian retailer, with two posters showing an upcoming September release and a beta for Destiny 2.

According to Kotaku and Eurogamer, the posters are the real deal so any doubters can rest easy about the authenticity of the images. The release date can be seen at the top right corner, although it’s a bit hard to make out that it’s September 8. With that said, the date can be clearly seen in a vertical version of the poster, and it shouldn't be a surprise considering that it’s on a Friday and European games usually release on that day. This also means we most probably will be getting Destiny 2 a few days earlier via the North America release.

On top of the release window, the posters show there will be an upcoming beta for Bungie’s MMO shooter. This shouldn’t come as a surprise since it’s fairly normal for modern games to have a beta, especially when it’s an online game. It’ll also be a good opportunity for early testers to help the developers to squash as many as bugs as possible to ensure a smooth launch.

Aside from this latest info, not much is known about Destiny 2. Publisher Activision intended that they’ll “broaden the franchise’s global reach”, which strongly hints at a PC release, despite cutting out last gen consoles. Bungie also confirmed recently that character customization will carry over to Destiny 2, but not the character progressions. Either way, we can expect a trailer soon to strengthen the hype surrounding this game.
