League Of Legends Players Can Now Earn Cryptocurrency

By Michelle J. Brohier on Jan 10, 2019

Ready to earn some crypto? As of right now, 65 million-plus League of Legends (LoL) players can now earn cryptocurrency while playing the game. The cryptocurrency is called Refereum, which is the leading blockchain reward ecosystem and players can earn this by completing matches, winning battles and gaining in-game achievements.

During this beta, points earned for playing are added to a Refereum user's total. At the end of a Season, gamers will receive Refereum tokens ($RFR) based on how many points they earned during the season. Players can then spend their $RFR in Refereum's online game store or exchange their $RFR for other cryptocurrencies or USD via crypto exchanges.

Refereum isn't new, there are already community members earning the cryptocurrency for over a year by streaming, sharing and watching games. It will be the first time that an actual gaming platform has integrated with the cryptocurrency, especially for a non-blockchain game.

The cryptocurrency is aiming to integrate with other major gaming platforms as well, so keep an eye out on it!

Do you think earning cryptocurrency is the way to go for future gaming? Let us know in the comments!
