History repeats itself with Kuala Lumpur Hunters winning the League of Legends Championship Malaysia (LCM) Spring 2018 Grand Finals, an important tournament which ran from 2nd February until 18th March. This proved to be a credible feat as the team defeated Fire Dragoon 3-1 in a Best of 5 format to take home their fifth consecutive win. Geek Fam was placed third behind Fire Dragoon.
Besides taking home RM60,000, Kuala Lumpur Hunters will also be heading to Bangkok, Thailand later this month to represent Malaysia at the Garena Premier League (31st March-1st April) whereby the team may have a shot to represent the region at Riot’s Mid Season Invitationals in Berlin.
LCM Grand Finals were held on 17th-18th March at Quill City Mall and is notably the first local League of Legends tournament to have a live broadcast on the local TV9 channel and TV9 Di Hatiku Facebook page. This was done in collaboration with Media Prima.
Another memorable event held during the tournament was the Cosplay Collision competition that featured a RM10,000 prize pool. Fujiwara Kazuko’s rendition of Blood Moon Elise succeeded in wowing the audience and ACrown, the five judges from South Korea. Besides winning RM3,000, she also nabbed 5,000 AirAsia BIG Points from AirAsia BIG Loyalty.
Additionally, Quill City Mall organised a ‘balloon drop’ whereby 30,000 AirAsia BIG Points, Legion Y720 and a Legion Y520 gaming laptop, Logitech G gaming gears, Shopee vouchers and more were also given away!
There were also lucky draws whereby some fortunate participants got to win a variety of prizes, consisting of mostly computer peripherals (including the Legion Y520 and Legion Y720), as seen below.
Aside from the main Finals, there was also a 3v3 tournament!
Notably, Player Awards were also awarded to players who had performed admirably throughout the LCM 2018.
On that note, that’s a wrap on LCM 2018!
