The Grand Finals of The Legends Circuit (TLC) Malaysia 2017 took place on Saturday, 25th of March 2017 and Kuala Lumpur Hunters (KLH) remains the team to beat in Malaysia as they successfully defended their championship title by pulling out all the stops against the tournament underdogs Swestic, clean sweeping them 3-0 in a merciless fashion.
Despite Swestic's dominating early game performance, they were still unable to snowball their advantage to a victory due to some hesitation and bad engagement calls from the team, which ultimately gave an opportunity to KLH for a comeback. Under the amazing guidance by their team manager Crowe, the likes of Shiro, Qaspiel, ArrHedge, CO4, and Bipolar were able to draft the right team composition from game to game. Heck, they even pulled out a Kalista and Camille bot lane duo which caught everyone by surprise. Kuala Lumpur Hunters not only walked away as defending champions and with the RM40,000 cash prize, they are also qualified to take part in the upcoming Garena Premier League (GPL). KLH's captain and jungler, Qaspiel was awarded the Most Valuable Player (MVP) title for his amazing performance on Kha'Zix and Lee Sin in all 3 games, as well as shot-calling for the team to glory.
Kuala Lumpur Hunter's next goal will undoubtedly be winning the GPL, which is a bi-annual SEA League of Legends tournament featuring only the domestic champions from Garena regions like Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Philippines, Indonesia and Vietnam. Winning the GPL will automatically grant the team a ticket to the international stage, which are Mid-Season Invitational (MSI) and Worlds.
Dickson Lee, TLC & Garena eSports Commissioner, said: “We are extremely proud of KLH who have consistently shown that Malaysia is able to produce a high caliber League of Legends team that is ready for the international stage. The next few months will be an exciting challenge for the nation in GPL 2017 which is our direct road into the World Championships. I am confident that teams like KLH and Swestic are able to raise the profile of eSports in Malaysia and inspire more homegrown talents to breakthrough in the industry."
Congratulations to Kuala Lumpur Hunters for being the TLC champions four times in a row and best of luck in the upcoming GPL. Make us Malaysians proud!
