Blizzard introduced the new map in Overwatch to us called Junkertown back last month during Gamescom 2017 and the new escort map is now playable on all platforms after a new patch was released. However, it will not be in the map rotation for Competitive Games for a week from now.
Junkertown is an Escort map located in the harsh and unforgiving Australian Outback. Constructed from the remains of a destroyed omnium, it's now the home to a band of lawless scavengers known as the Junkers, led by their cutthroat Queen. When they aren’t pillaging the omnium's skeleton for anything of value, the Junkers blow off steam in the Scrapyard—a massive gladiatorial arena whose combatants fight for glory, riches and to survive.
The new map is the hometown of our two beloved Australian thugs, Junkrat and Roadhog, with the first spawn point for the attacking team being Roadhog's home. Junkertown has many unique attributes to it. There are numerous highgrounds and flanking route for players to go about, trying to stab their enemies in the back. So, make sure you know play a few games in the Arcade to know your way around the map better as it definitely benefit you when the map is available for Competitive Play.
The reason why Blizzard wants to disable Junkertown for Competitive Play is to give a chance for players to get used to the map and not walking around like a headless chicken. So, make sure you know play a few games in the Arcade or in Custom Games to know your way around the map better as it will definitely benefit you when the map is available for Competitive Play.
