Is The Dark Knight As Worth It As It Seems To Be?

Arena of Valour has recently announced the inclusion of their first DC hero to join the roster, the one and only Batman. If you log in today, you can get Batman for yourself for free, but the question is, how well does he perform and was he worth the hype?We played several games with Batman and here are a breakdown of his skills and abilities:

When Batman approaches an enemy hero, his movement speed increases by 20%

Batman launches an explosive Batarang that deals 165 +95 physical damage to enemies and reduces their movement speed. 24% of HP lost will be converted into additional physical damage 3 seconds later. Enemies hit are stunned if attacked by Batman again, and Batman restores 140 +85 HP

FOREARM STRIKE

Physical

Batman attacks with his forearm blades and deals 215 +145 physical damage to nearby enemies. One random enemy will take double damage.

DARK KNIGHT

Batman conceals himself behind a colony of bats and becomes invisible after 1.5 seconds. Invisibility lasts for 30 seconds unless Batman stays within 6 units of an enemy hero for more than 3 seconds. If the ability is used again during invisibility, he will fly towards the target direction, dealing 660 +321 physical damage to enemies in his path. He gains 50% attack speed for 5 seconds after coming out of invisibility.

 

For one, Batman is a bit beefier than his assassin compatriots with the warrior typing being in his favour. One of the unique features of Batman is that he currently is the only hero that can go invisible during fights, which helps with ambushes and kiting enemy teams. MOBA guys out there take note, as this version of invisibility has a proximity tracker, whereby if you are too close to a hero for 3 seconds within his ulti radius, you will be revealed, much to our chagrin. 

His first and 2nd ability is ok thus far, as we don't see anything game breaking or underpowered at the moment. The Batarang gives Batman a good early game harass that can also set up for ganks, while the forearm strike gives Batman much needed DPS during the ganking phase.  In solo situations, if your opponent is not a fed Yorn, you would most likely come out on top, but against the beefier tanks and the dreaded Maloch, it's best to come with a friend. 

Thus, we did enjoy our time with the Batman, but we hope that the ulti can be reworked to make it more impactful within the game. What do you think about the latest hero, let us know in our Facebook post here:
