The 4th iteration of GameStart, GameStart 2017, was held on the 14th and 15th of October, at the Suntec Singapore Exhibition and Convention Center. 4 indie game teams from Taiwan were brought over from Taipei Game Show to showcase their award-winning games at the Singaporean convention. Partnering with IMGA, GameStart sought out to bring the best games from the region to fans in Singapore.

Notable indie games received the recognition they deserved, especially with the awards that were given throughout the event. “Songbird Symphony” by JoySteak Studios and “Cat Quest” by Gentlebros Games won the “Judge’s Choice Award” and “Visitor’s Choice Award” respectively on the last day of the event. With that, both teams are invited to showcase their respective games at the upcoming Taipei Game Show 2018.

The 4 indie games from Taiwan were MoKai Adventure, an AR card and board game hybrid; Click Chronicle, an idle clicker game; Lyrica, an IMGA winning rhythm game; and the ever-controversial deity combat game, Fight of Gods. These games were praised by the Singaporean crowd and the developers received numerous feedback from those trying out their demos.

Overall, GameStart 2017 was a great platform to showcase some of the best games in the region and inspire more developers to throw their hat into the indie games market. All of these games and more will also be heading to the Taipei Game Show in January 2018.
