By Kurtis Chan on Aug 8, 2017

Team Instinct's mascot, Zapdos, one of the three, and the last legendary bird Pokemon is now available for trainers to take down and capture in Pokemon GO Legendary Raid Battle.

Moltres was removed and Zapdos is now in the game since 8 August, Wednesday, 8:00am SGT and it will remain until 8:00am SGT on August 15th. Zapdos is an Electric and Flying type Pokemon, which means that it will receive single effective damage from Rock and Ice type attacks, and there are no attacks that can deal super effective damage to it. Zapdos will only use Electric type attacks and it deals super effective damage against Ground type Pokemon.

Trainers will face a tougher time trying to win against Zapdos as it has 42,691 Raid CP and it has fewer weaknesses as well. To make things easier, here is a list of Pokemon and the preferred skill sets to take down the thunder bird.

  • Golem- Rock Throw (Rock, quick attack) and Stone Edge (Rock, charge attack)
  • Tyranitar- Bite (Dark, quick attack) and Stone Edge (Rock, charge attack)
  • Dragonite- Dragon Breath (Dragon, quick attack) and Outrage (Dragon, charge attack)
  • Rhydon- Rock Smash (Fighting, quick attack) and Stone Edge (Rock, charge attack)
  • Jinx- Frost Breath (Ice, quick attack) and Avalanche (Ice, charge attack)
  • Piloswine- Ice Shard (Ice, quick attack) and Avalanche (Ice, charge attack)

The best Pokemon to use while facing Zapdos is Golem, which is the same as facing Moltres. Zapdos' Electric attacks deal reduced damage to Golem while Golem deals single effective damage to it. Just make sure that your Golem does not have Ground type moves as it is not effective against Zapdos.

Zapdos has a 3% capture rate after it is defeated. So make sure to practice those curve and excellent throws to increases the chances of making the Pokemon yours.
