Horizon: Zero Dawn got reimagined as an original GameBoy game, and it looks pretty cool

It is undebatable to state that Horizon: Zero Dawn is one of the best looking open-world action RPG out there, with an expansive post-apocalyptic setting for players to explore and marvel at. Guerilla Games did a great job for their first foray into the third-person genre, but what if the game was designed to fit the look of a GameBoy game? Japanese artist Toyaken21 made an illustration of Aloy and some Watchers to depict Horizon as a side-scroller, and it looks pretty cool.

He even managed to include the original HUD design into the art, and it points to a good-looking and well-functioning game if there’s any ambitious modder that would like to make this into a proper project. You can even have a look at how it’ll look on the device itself, thanks to Fakes Forge. Too bad it’s very unlikely for any of us to have a working original GameBoy, not to mention that it’s kind of impossible to release the proposed project into a game cartridge. At least we can always rely on the good old Visual Boy Advance. Any modders up for the challenge?
