The day has come lads, the day whereby Pokemon finally meets reality, and no we are not talking about Pokemon Go (It doesn't even count), no sir/ma'am, we are talking about the upcoming Great Detective Pikachu live action movie. That's right, everyone's favorite electric mouse is going to be in a live film which marks the first ever live adaptation to be made under the Pokemon moniker.
The writers for this flick will be Nicole Perlman and Alex Hirsch from Guardians of the Galaxy and Gravity Falls fame, with Legendary Pictures producing the film. We have so many mixed feelings about this, as usual, live adaptations from a Japanese entertainment source usually falls shot in Hollywood and it is no wonder as to why, with various whitewashing and plot changing controversies, this genre is filled with uncertainty. But then again, we are talking about the powerhouse brand that is Pokemon which has endured over 20 years, so this might be unprecedented all round.
This movie will be based on the Nintendo 3DS game Great Detective Pikachu, whereby players are to solve adventures while following the whims of an intelligent Pikachu which has the mood swings of a gruntled detective. The game was released on February 3, 2016 and it has been a hit since launch especially among forums and social media on the internet.
Legendary Pictures have yet to release a date for when the film is released, but as always this would be another movie on our watch list.
