Gilgamesh might not be a villain in Final Fantasy XV: Episode Gladiolus

By Kin Boon on Mar 13, 2017

Not much details were known about Final Fantasy XV’s first story expansion, Episode Gladiolus, besides the fact that you’ll be controlling the alpha male of Noctis’ party from the main game. An Episode Gladiolus PAX Trailer was recently released at the Final Fantasy XV panel discussion at PAX East 2017, to give fans an insight on what to expect when the DLC drops at the end of March.

The DLC will have Gladio embarking on a journey to gain more fighting power, after he got “his ass handed to him” by a certain Supreme Commander in the base game. Marshal Cor Leonis’ help will be enlisted as they try to pass Gilgamesh’s trial for the coveted power upgrade. What’s interesting here is that Gilgamesh is portrayed as some sort of a pseudo-mentor, as opposed to his iconic villainous appearance in Final Fantasy V. And it seems that Cor is related to him, judging from the last segment of the trailer.

According to Push Square, the content will take around two to three hours to complete it, which sounds fair considering it only costs $4.99. With that said, this particular trial didn’t seem to have a huge effect on the main game in terms of character development. I don’t know about you guys, but I definitely didn’t get the impression that Gladio went through such a tough journey when he rejoined the party. At least he got to wield a huge bolder as a greatsword.

Final Fantasy XV: Episode Gladiolus will be available on March 28, and you can get it for $4.99 or as part of the season pass worth $24.99.
