Mobile farming game Sky Garden: Farm in Paradise is among the nominees for the 13th International Mobile Gaming Awards Global (IMGA Global), where the casual farming game will compete with 158 other nominees for the coveted Grand Prix award and 12 other awards.
The work of Vietnamese developer VNG Game Studios, the game is also an eligible candidate for the People's Choice Award, which it won in the first IMGA South East Asia last November. Made for mobile phones and tablets, Sky Garden: Farm in Paradise's story involves a mix of elements from recognizable fairy tales, including Little Red Riding Hood and Jack and the Beanstalk. Set in the eponymous Sky Garden, its features include pot collections, a variety of plants, trading, Guilds and even Disney Collections that are currently available in Southeast Asia.
“Nominees like Sky Garden: Farm in Paradise highlight the new standard of creativity and the emerging quality of the productions found in mobile gaming”, said IMGA founder Maarten Noyons.
Created in 2004, the IMGA Global is the "leading showcase for groundbreaking innovations" in the mobile gaming industry. Originally having only 85 entries, the yearly event now expects more than 1000 entries from an average of over 800 studios worldwide; Sky Garden: Farm in Paradise was picked from almost 3,000 submissions and from local winners.
Some of the notable competitors it faces include western games like 1979 Revolution: Black Friday, Batman: The Telltale Series, Day of the Tentacle Remastered and Deus Ex GO. Last year, the Grand Prix award was taken by Her Story, while Shadowmatic was the people's choice.
Winners for this year's IMGA Global will be announced on February 28, 2017 during the IMGA ceremony in San Francisco.
