Treyarch's past Call of Duty Zombies maps have arrived on PS4 with the release of Zombie Chronicles, Call of Duty: Black Ops 3's fifth DLC pack. Essentially a greatest hits collection, the $29.99 (RM129.26) DLC contains eight classic maps that have been fully remastered for the modern generation.
Most of these maps are from 2008's World at War - the game which started the Zombies craze - and 2010's Black Ops. From the former are maps like Nacht der Untoten (Abandoned Bunker), Verruckt (Wittenau Sanitorium) and Shi No Numa (Jungle Swamp), while the latter's Kino Der Toten (Theater of the Dead), Ascension (Soviet Cosmodrome), Shangri-la (Exotic Jungle Shrine) and Moon (Lunar Base) make up half of the DLC's content. Completing the package is the Origins map from 2012's Black Ops 2, which is set in World War 1-era France.
Aside from technical improvements like enhanced lighting, revamped models and updated AI and audio, Zombies Chronicles will let you blast through the original maps with custom weapons that include Black Ops 3's weaponry. It also comes with bonus content, namely 20 vials of Liquid Divinium, 2 new Whimsical GobbleGums and an exclusive Zombies Pack-A-Punch Weapon Camo.
More free stuff - like Zombies calling cards, a new weapon camo, new GobbleGums and a PS4 theme - can be gained from the "8 Days of the Undead" celebration. There are also double XP rewards and community challenges which offer extra or alternate incentives to play.
Black Ops 3 owners on other platforms can enjoy the launch day celebration's offerings too, except for the PS4 theme. When they can enjoy Zombie Chronicles, on the other hand, remains a mystery for now. Based on how Call of Duty's platform exclusivity deals work however, it should be out after about a month or so.
