ESL, the world's largest esports company, is celebrating the new year with a bang as their flagship series, ESL One will once again be back at Arena of Stars, Resorts World Genting, Malaysia. Scheduled to take place on January 23 to January 28, 2018, ESL One Genting 2018 will see the top 16 Dota 2 teams battling out to take a stab at the prize pool of $US400,000, as well as earning themselves 400 Qualifying Points for a higher chance of getting a direct invite to The International 2018.

The world's best Dota 2 team will be directly invited to fill one of the 16 slots in the group stages of ESL One Genting 2018. Regional qualifiers will also be held all over the world prior to the event to determine which teams will fill up the remaining slots. The quarterfinals will commence once group stage is over and it will be played in a Best of 3 (Bo3), single elimination format, same goes for the semifinals. The grand finals will be played in a Best of 5 (Bo5), single elimination format instead.

ESL One Genting 2018 marks the third time an ESL event is being held in Southeast Asia, including the previous ESL One Manila 2016 and ESL One Genting 2017.
