Team Flash stunned TNP A with a 3-0 score to seal their victory in the finals. Besides the prestigious title as EA Champions Cup Spring 2018 victors, Team Flash also took home USD108,000 and earned themselves a spot in the FIFA Global Series Qualifiers, along with TNP A.
With the team’s success, Terence Ting, the founder of Team Flash had this to say:
“It is still a surreal feeling for everyone at Team Flash and the credit goes entirely to the boys for their world-class performance this weekend. FIFA has always been huge globally - we are truly honoured to represent SEA and bring home Singapore’s first gold medal for eSports.”
Held in Bangkok, Thailand from 31st March to 1st April 2018, the EA Champions Cup Spring 2018 is the largest competitive gaming tournament for FIFA Online 3. The tournament saw a total of 12 participating teams, as shown below:
Each team was put into one of four groups via a random draw that took place in EA’s Spearhead Studio in Seoul, South Korea on March 14th, 2018. There were three teams in each group. Despite being champions, Team Flash actually started out their tournament campaign with a loss to Malaysia’s Fire Dragoon. In the semifinals, Team Flash had to duke it out with Lyon EDG in a Best of 5 format that went all the way to Game 5. Regardless, Team Flash persevered through the finals and emerged as champions!
