Remasters are becoming more of an in-thing nowadays, and Blizzard is contributing to the hype train by doing one for the original StarCraft. This led to fans requesting for a remaster of the equally loved Diablo II, and they might actually get what they wished for, according to recent job postings by Blizzard.
The first of the postings emerged last week, as the American gaming giant advertised for a "Lead Software Engineer, Engine" role, with the following description:
Compelling stories. Intense multiplayer. Endless replayability. Qualities that made StarCraft, Warcraft III, and Diablo II the titans of their day. Evolving operating systems, hardware, and online services have made them more difficult to be experienced by their loyal followers or reaching a new generation.
We're restoring them to glory, and we need your engineering talents, your passion, and your ability to get tough jobs done.
If this is not enough to convince you that Blizzard is planning something big for Diablo II, the latest posting for a "UI/UX Visual Designer" role at Classic Games might do the trick. Just a part of the description alone spells out an R-E-M-A-S-T-E-R for one of the most critically acclaimed action RPG of all time.
Classic Games is looking for a renaissance designer to harmonize that which was, with that which will be. Warcraft, StarCraft, and Diablo await your machinations. If you have the desire to rise to that challenge, we’d love to hear from you.
Now of course, before we get too excited, we still have to wait for an official confirmation from Blizzard. But at least this sets up what could potentially be a very exciting BlizzCon this coming November.
