Capcom's Puzzle Fighter Soft-Launched in Malaysia

Capcom's new mobile version of their puzzle-fighting game hybrid, Puzzle Fighter, is here for Malaysia. Malaysia is luckily one of the countries selected for the game to test the waters on the market. Other countries include Singapore, Mexico, Canada, Australia and Hong Kong.

Puzzle Fighter is a versus game where players use super-deformed Capcom characters as they fight until either player's health is depleted. The twist is in fact on how players deal damage in the game, which is through a falling blocks system ala Puyo Puyo and matching 4 colored blocks or more will result in an attack that will deplete the opponent's health. Chaining combos in the falling blocks game will result in your character performing his or her combo on the opposing character. Overall, its a neat twist on the tried and true Street Fighter formula and adds a different kind of strategy to the meta-game.

As you could probably tell, the game features some of Capcom's finest characters, originally it only started out with Street Fighter and Darkstalkers characters like the usual Ken and Ryu, Chun-Li, Morrigan, and Hsien-Ko. The game has since expanded its roster from the 1996 original by adding fan-favorite Capcom characters like Megaman X, Dante from Devil May Cry and Frank West from Dead Rising, all with their own special moves and abilities lifted from their portrayals in the Marvel vs. Capcom series of games.

It's been two decades since the original Puzzle Fighter and a decade since the updated HD remix on PS3 and XBox 360, and now Capcom fans can finally have their falling blocks fighting game fix. Capcom fans in Malaysia can download the title now for free on the App Store and Google Play Store.
