A new teaser was just tweeted by Blizzard through their official Overwatch account, regarding the incident in the Horizon Lunar Colony.
According to Overwatch Gamepedia, The Horizon Lunar Colony is a moon base constructed by Lucheng Interstellar, a Chinese company specializing in the space industry and established as part of humanity's renewed focus on space exploration. In addition to the scientists that worked there were a group of genetically enhanced gorillas that were intended to test the effects of prolonged habitation in space. The experiments came to an end when the gorillas launched an uprising, killing the scientists and claiming the base for their own. It has been indicated that they are so far happy to stay within the base.
Atlas News, a fictional news outlet in the Overwatch Universe reported that Lucheng Interstellar new details about possible fate of Horizon Lunar Colony. "For the first time in years after Horizon Lunar Colony went offline, new information has been revealed as to the fate of the program," Atlas News reported. "At a press conference today, Lucheng Interstellar revealed the surprising fact that the colony's databases and monitoring systems are still up and running this day. While no direct communication has been established with the facility, the company has successfully retrieved interpersonnel logs sent days and moments before the base lost contact with earth."
After the initial report, Lucheng Interstellar released the image of the Horizon Lunar Colony's still-operating integrated monitoring systems to Atlas News, and also stated that the connection is unstable but they are working around the clock to gather new information.
No one knows what is Blizzard teasing about, but it doesn't stop the Overwatch community from speculating. According to some of the transmission shared by Lucheng to Atlas News, there are a few possible things that might be coming to Overwatch soon. Firstly, we might be getting a new map, which is Horizon Lunar Colony itself and it could have an anti-gravity section since it is in space and one of the airlock is malfunctioning. It ccould also very well be a new game mode.
Secondly, Hammond could be the next hero coming to the game. Hammond is a test subject, and just like Winston, a genetically modified animal who apparently escaped from his cage in Horizon Lunar Colony. Hammond may or may not be a gorilla as the message states that he is a "smaller test subject." A monkey perhaps?
It is still too soon to tell what this teaser is refering to, we can only wait until further information is released by Blizzard, or in this case, reported by Atlas News.
