Blizzard is organizing its first official Overwatch SEA Tournament

Southeast Asia Overwatch players listen up. There is a big news for you as Blizzard will be organizing its first official Overwatch SEA Tournament from 25th March, 2017 onwards until the grand finals on the 6th of May, 2017, with a total prize pool of US$5,000 (approximately RM22,272) up for grabs and also the opportunity to get featured on the weekly highlights show and watch your sick plays go viral.

The tournament will be played in a Single Elimination Ro256 Open Qualifier. The Top 32 teams will advance to the group stage. The first 32 teams who sign up who also have an average SR of Master rank per player (based on the highest Skill Rating achieved the last season) will get direct seeds into the Group Stage. Signups for the tournament has begun and it closes on March 15th 2017 at 11.59pm GMT+8. The tournament will be held on the PC platform only and teams are required to sign up with a Razer Arena account that reflects your Battle.net e-mail. The schedule for the tournament can be found below:

Only the four teams that made it into the semi-finals will be awarded a share of the US$5,000 prize pool:

  • 1st: US$2,500
  • 2nd: US$1,250
  • 3rd: US$750
  • 4th: US$500

During the Open Qualifier, teams will have to compete in Best of 3, Single Elimination match in any of the 8 maps chosen through voting from each team. These 8 maps are Hanamura, Ilios, Temple of Anubis, Nepal, Oasis, Eichenwalde, Hollywood and King's Row. Further information will be released by Blizzard as the tournament progresses.
