Blizzard is making some ‘drastic’ changes to the Overwatch loot system to reduce duplicates

One of the best things to do in Overwatch besides thrashing your opponents and be featured in Play of the Game is to open loot boxes, with a high sense of anticipation for the next legendary skin that you want to get. But of course, life is tough so you might encounter duplicates, duplicates, and MORE duplicates, so Blizzard is planning to do something about that.

According to the latest Developer Update video, game director Jeff Kaplan announced that Blizzard is making changes to the system that will “drastically reduce” the number of duplicates from loot boxes. If you are worried about getting less gold from this change, Blizzard got you covered as well by increasing the amount of credits to keep things in balance. "We'll make sure that your credit intake will be at least the same, if not more,” said Kaplan in the video.

Of course, it’s impossible to know how effective the loot box change will be until you try it, which prompted Kaplan to encourage players to try it on Overwatch PTR. With that said, there is a limit to the amount of content you’ll get, so a dupe or two is inevitable. "But we think the change should be very drastic and significant, and feel fantastic," he said.

The loot box update is now live on Overwatch PTR, so give it a try and good luck in getting some dup.. I meant new skins.
