Big Changes Comes To Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Version 2.0

By Dale Bashir on Jan 30, 2019

Fighting games have a lot to be maintained under the hood; any minor change can effectively change the entire meta of the game. Super Smash Bros. depends a lot on these minor changes, and it’s not typical of them to actually release a list of the changes they’ve made. Thankfully, with Ultimate, we finally have a full breakdown of the patch notes.

Staying true to the spirit of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate being the best Smash Bros. experience, Nintendo is upping the game with a whole new Version 2.0 update. There are numerous changes to the various characters in the game, which you can check out Nintendo’s official list of changes right here.

There are a whole bunch of buffs and debuffs for the whole roster, notable changes include fan-favourites like Chrom, King K. Rool, and Palutena getting debuffs, while Little Mac, Incineroar, and Jigglypuff get some significant buffs to their moves. Of course, to see the changes across all 70 fighters, do check out the list for a complete breakdown. It’ll be the best way to see if your main has gotten better or worse.

The next big surprise is that the first DLC character, Piranha Plant, is available now for all who registered their copy of Smash and received the download code for the new fighter. The unexpected addition to the game is only free for players by the end of tomorrow, the 31st of January, so better do so if you want to try out this new unorthodox fighter.

Side note, there are numerous reports that the game will erase save files if you play All-Star Smash the Piranha Plant, so do make sure you don’t do that until a new patch is released. Until then, happy Smashing everyone!
