According to an official blogpost by Logitech, one of the world's leaders in making accessories for gaming and general computing, is acquiring ASTRO Gaming, who is known for making professional console gaming headsets commonly used by professional eSports players and streamers. The acquisition was announced yesterday, with the acquisition expected to close by the end of August with Logitech buying ASTRO Gaming for 85 million USD. This acquisition also positions itself to make Logitech the leading producer of PC and console paraphernalia.

Vice President of Product Marketing at Logitech G, Ujesh Desai, expressed his thoughts on the acquisition: "ASTRO is the leading player for premium console headsets and is the preferred headset for console esports athletes, it's a perfect complement to Logitech G's focus on PC gaming and we couldn't be more excited; we love the team, the brand, and the products. Together, we want to make game play even more fun for gamers everywhere."

With this acquisition, Logitech will have a strong entry into the console market as they have primarily been leaning more to the PC side of gaming rather than the PS4 or XBox One. ASTRO Gaming being the pioneer in console gaming headsets, acts as a great boon to Logitech, and though they are now a part of Logitech, the ASTRO brand and products are not going anywhere, their name and design will still be on their console-based products while Logitech G will remain their flagship PC accessories brand. Overall, this acquisition is nothing but good news for fans of both companies. Here's hoping for great things along the way.
