Take control and follow the ways of the Blademaster with Samuro, the newest melee assassin to arrive in the Nexus. Warcraft III players will immediately recognise Samuro as the badass Samurai-esque Orc hero in the Orc campaign story. Everything from his playstyle, abilities, and aesthetics are basically still the same and will definitely tug on the nostalgia heart strings of those good old days playing Warcraft III.
Samuro is a deceptive melee assassin that relies on stealth to outsmart and ambush his opponents. His abilities allows Samuro to get in the thick of the fight fast, kill the target and get out of the fight in seconds.
His core design revolves around high mobility and deception. His passive allows him to be a relentless beast as everytime he hits an enemy hero, he temporarily gains movement speed. This makes escaping Samuro's wrath much harder. Wind Walk also contributes to his extreme mobility as it allows him to immediately enter stealth, gain increased movement speed and allows him to pass through other units. With no self-healing abilities, Samuro relies on Wind Walk primarily as an escape tool. However, it can also be used offensively Wind Walk-ing your way into a fight to take out the opponent's squishy heroes. There is a certain Wind Walk talent build that will ultimately grant Samuro 155% movement speed during Wind Walk! A LvL 1 talent is a quest that increases your movement speed during wind walk by 25% (base is 30% = mount speed) combined with a LvL 20 talent reduces the cooldown of Wind Walk by 6 seconds, base cooldown is 12seconds so it becomes 6 seconds and Wind Walk duration lasts 8 seconds. That's pretty insane.
Mirror Image is Samuro's core deception ability. On activation, Samuro creates two more weaker versions of himself to confuse and deal damage to your opponents. Coupled with Crtical Strikes, Samuro and his images can burst down even the sturdiest tanks when used properly. For the ultimate deception master, I would suggest going for a Mirror Image build where some of the talents allow increases the health of Samuro's images or grant spell blocks on your images. The Illusion Master Heroic is a definite pick of course which grants you control over his images, and even lets you swap places with them no matter the distance. Watch in delight as your opponents experience panic trying to guess which is the actual Samuro.
After trying him out on the PTR servers, I can deduce that Samuro is indeed a very strong hero. So strong that I think he is slightly overtuned at the moment, the low skill cap makes him a natural pick for new players. Be wary however, there are many counters to Samuro and most apparent here is AoE damaging skills. Not only that it eliminates the need to guess which Samuro is the real one, it also breaks his stealth from Wind Walk allowing you to easily take him out.
Samuro is planned to enter the live version on October 17, along with the new Brawl game mode. Until then, both are playable in the PTR.
