Multiplayer Online Battle Arena, or MOBA is one of the most popular game genres out there. Up until now, the most famous MOBA titles has to be League of Legends and Dota 2, stats even proof that these two MOBA giants are the most-played games in Asia. There are still many MOBA games out there that are less popular or undiscovered by gamers. If you are tired of League and Dota, here is a list of 6 MOBA games that you should definitely try out in 2017. The games below are not listed in a particular order.

Paragon

The players have to fight their way to the enemy Core by destroying Towers and outplaying their opponents. Paragon is available on PC and PS4, released on August 16, 2016 as an Open Beta. Paragon is a cross-platform game, so PC and PS4 players can play and fight for Agora together. Your progress is also synced on both accounts. The difference between Paragon and other MOBAs is it has new mechanics like Harvesters (resource-gathering spots), a cards system, and a slight twist on not last-hitting creeps. With a new Hero introduced every three weeks, Paragon offers endless opportunity for new players and veterans alike. Visit Paragon's official webpage for more information.

Master X Master

Master X Master is a MOBA that integrates characters from different NCSoft games like Guild Wars and Blade & Soul, kinda like Blizzard’s Heroes of the Storm. Unlike the usual MOBA where you point and click to move your hero around, you have direct control over your heroes by utilizing the WASD keys and mouse setup. The game also features a PvE dungeon-crawling mode in case you want a break from the MOBA action.

What sets the game apart from other MOBA titles is that it has a unique TAG System. The TAG System is a core feature in Master X Master that allows players to pick two Masters before a match, and swap them in and out mid-battle to use their specific skills, and build powerful attack and defense combos - or even avoid death. Players can pick contrasting Masters to build a powerful and well-rounded duo, or specialize to combo similar abilities, and focus their effectiveness. Masters don't share a health bar, but if one of them dies both will be defeated. Swapping to other Master can help prevent the enemy from landing a final killing blow, but CC and other quick bursts make the decision of when to swap a critically important one.

Master X Master closed beta will run from April 6 2017 till April 27 2017. Gamers who are interested in joining the closed beta can register at http://www.playmxm.com.

Vanguards

Created by college students as part of the BYU Animation program, Vanguards is a fast-paced 3v3 MOBA battle game that features heroes that uses elemental powers to gain control over a ghost that can be placed on enemy bases to lower these bases' shields and drain them of their energy.

One game of Vanguards generally takes around 8-12 minutes to complete, unlike majority of MOBAs that last around 30 minutes or more. The reason for such a short game time is because of Vanguards draining mechanic of the ghost by placing it on the enemy’s base.

Vanguards is a very easy MOBA game to pick up as the game focuses on map objectives and team fights instead of learning difficult hero mechanics and complicated items system. The game is free to play and player who are interested can download it from Steam.
