If you’re a gamer (don't worry, this article is suitable for non-gamers too), your New Year festivity starter pack won’t be complete without some good ole gaming sesh. Better yet, why not try your hand at playing some games and genres that you have not tried before? Celebrating the new year is all about starting out fresh and with a bang so without further ado, let’s get this payload rollin’!

HELLBLADE: SENUA’S SACRIFICE

The heartfelt video above speaks volumes about Hellblade, the winner of three awards (Best Audio Design, Best Performance for Melina Juergens, and the Games for Impact award) at The Game Awards 2017.

LIFE IS STRANGE: BEFORE THE STORM

My answer for both Life Is Strange games will always be a firm “Bae over Bay.”

SIMULACRA

This menu needs a dash of Malaysian flavour among the sea of Western offerings, so Kaigan Games’ Simulacra (“a spiritual successor to the award-winning narrative thriller Sara is Missing”) makes the perfect dish. Also, this is totally a chef’s pick.

GUILTY GEAR XRD REV 2

Others: This is a good fighting game.

Me, an intellectual: You can find a lot of waifus and husbandos in this beautiful fighting game.

RISE OF THE TOMB RAIDER: 20 YEAR CELEBRATION

In conjunction with the Tomb Raider movie that’s coming soon (but not soon enough…), you can refresh your memory and reignite your fanboying/fangirling feels by playing this game. Also, Camilla Luddington’s portrayal as Lara Croft is still one of the best out there.

CUPHEAD

Cuphead is probably one of the biggest hits of last year and ‘till today, some gamer folks were still unaware of its existence. Appalling much?

UNCHARTED: THE LOST LEGACY

People’s G-rated opinion: Tomb Raider and Uncharted got married and have an awesome kiddo.

People’s R-rated opinion: THIS GAME IS AN ACTION-ADVENTURE ORGASM.

VAINGLORY

Vainglory is like the lesser-known older cousin of Arena of Valor and Mobile Legends. Real talk here, this one deserves more attention and some love too!

GRAVITY RUSH 2

Sadly, Gravity Rush 2 is one of the most under-appreciated titles of 2017. Rest assured, I’m here to the rescue; hence why I’m inserting it in this list because it is worthy of more recognition.

NIER: AUTOMATA

I saved the best for last, y’all.
